![]() But i question, would conors performance at 205 have been so dominant if eddie wasnt so emotional? □ I'm not trying to make excuses for Eddie, conor beat him. I feel like a lot of conors success in that eddie fight came from conor being in alvarez's headĮddie seemed like conor got into his head in that fight, he was terrified after that first knockdown and was too scared too engage thinking that he would get put to sleep if he did.Ĭompare that with eddies fight with gaethje, and eddie didnt respect gaethjes power (gaethje arguably hits harder than conor) at all, he just walked justin down and knocked him out (it wasnt a one sided beatdown or anything, gaethje gave him problems with the leg kicks) but eddie ultimately beat gaethje Personally, I think there are maybe 2-3 matchups in the top 15 that he can maybe win. He'll never be a contender again, nevermind a champion. He wasted his prime, and now he's lost his mojo. I guess that's what one proper fight between 20 will do to you. The leg kicks were completely pointless because I believe he would have had more success going to Dustin's body than his legs. But it looked like a Wish version of 2016 McGregor. He looked like he was trying to emulate his old style. Lo and behold, the third fight rolls around and somehow Conor managed to look even worse than the second fight. I thought he could win the trilogy if he addressed the leg kicks. I attributed it to time off and ring rust. Conor realized he was running out of time, and he started going balls to the wall, throwing crazy shit like double uppercuts and whatnot. The second round was interesting because about a minute or so in, you can see the tide change completely. He also had no answer for the leg kicks, and once the first round ended, I thought he would be fucked unless he started checking them properly. A stark contrast from Conor in his prime. He utilized very few counters and plodded forward. His rear hand's timing was off, meaning his straights weren't as impactful as before. He came out in the boxing stance and was very flat-footed - everything he used to deride in the lightweight division. I thought Conor looked the worst he has ever looked in the second fight.
